Team Membership Applications

The HelpingHero search function means that people you have never met may ask to join your HelpingHero team. As part of the application process a number of existing team members (the exact number is determined by your team rules) must vouch for the person before they can be admitted to your team.

HelpingHero explicitly perform no checking of applicant’s background or fitness to be a member of your team. It is solely the responsibility of team members to determine who they want to admit to their team and who they do not want to admit.

So, before you vouch for a person you must satisfy yourself that they are a fit person to be in your Team. We have listed below some suggestions of what you might like to do or check before vouching for a new team member.

Babysitting

  • Do a background check or ask the person to provide a current police check. See our Background Check Resources page for more information.
  • Ask for two character references (including someone for whom the new person has babysat in the past)
  • Go to the premises where they live to check it out

Pet sitting/minding

  • Do a background check or ask the person to provide a current police check.  See our Background Check Resources page for more information.
  • Have the person meet you and your pet before they pet sit for you
  • Ask for two character references (including someone for whom the new person has pet sat in the past)

Housesitting/minding

  • Do a background check or ask the person to provide a current police check.  See our Background Check Resources page for more information.
  • Have the person to meet you at their home before they house sit for you
  • Ask for two character references (including someone for whom the new person has hpuse sat in the past)
