How did HelpingHero start?
As a working mum with two young children, people always ask me how I manage to have
everything under control. I look after the grocery shopping, household chores, lifting
the kids to sports, dancing and music and work five days a week in a very demanding
job.
A couple of years ago, I was at the end of my tether in trying to organise and manage
so many things and my friends were having similar issues trying to balance work,
family, household chores. So we formed a group where we swapped babysitting, house
sitting pet sitting, carpooling, grocery shopping and general household chores for
group points.
But, instead of having a leader of the group who would have to organise the process,
we set it up on the Internet, so that the process would be handled online. This
was a babysitting coop on steriods!
Soon we were trading lawn mowing for someone spending the day waiting for the plumber
to fix a leaky pipe in our home. (So my husband and I did not have to take a day
off work to wait at home for the plumber!)
We would go on holiday knowing that people we trusted were looking after the house.
I would lift my kids and the neighbours to soccer and ballet on a Saturday and in
return my kids would be car pooled to music and dancing practice during the week,
while I was working.
Our beloved pet, Karlee, gets walked every day and we look after our friend’s dog
when he travels for work.
I can now go to the hairdresser without two screaming kids, and in return I baby
sit my friend’s child so that she can go to the dentist.
As more friends heard about what we did, they also wanted to start a group in their
neighbourhood and so we ended up with more and more groups using our online process
to swop help with other people.
This is how www.HelpingHero.com came about.
I certainly hope that you enjoy using it.

Tracey
