"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

Margaret Mead

Helping Hero started in a small neighbourhood in Sydney, Australia, when Tracey Ah Hee, a mother of young children and entrepreneur from Genroe, found that parents were challenged to find last-minute babysitters. Tracey set out to build a simple web-based service connecting families in the neighbourhood. Soon, services extended beyond babysitting to helping seniors in the neighbourhood by providing exchange services such as help with gardening in exchange for carpentry or shopping for groceries in exchange for rides to the airport.

As the web-site applications become more and more useful, it occurred to Tracey and Adam Ramshaw, co-founder and partner at Genroe that developing a platform for non-profits to connect with for-profit companies to organize and optimize volunteers could be of enormous value – particularly in a challenging economy! Lifelong supporters of non-profit organizations, Tracey and Adam began working with a growing community of teams and continued developing Helping Hero as a public good.

Volunteers are the most amazing people because each act of kindness may be one small contribution but together we are changing the world.” Tracey says.

“We are constantly inspired!” Adam adds.

Like a pebble in a pond, Helping Hero grew – and now, there are hundreds and thousands of circles growing as Helping Hero expands outside of Australia to North America, Europe and beyond.
